My Skan Adventures

Posted by Lisa Dietz on

When I was younger, growing up on Long Island, my family would take a trip to NYC every year around the holidays to see the Rockefeller Center tree lit up.

The smell of the chestnuts on the streets, the chilly air, the department store windows and the Christmas music always brought me so much joy. Being "semi" new to Skaneateles, I don't get down there much anymore during the holidays.

This town has brought me so many new memories of festivity and I would love to share them with you.

Starting Mid November, our little town starts to decorate and gear up for Dickens. This year is obviously going to look a little different due to COVID but we aren't going to let that stop us! Each store has decided to go overboard on their windows, along with Christmas music filling the streets on the weekends.

If you are lucky enough to take a trip to our special town, I have created my own map full of adventures that I think you should take! It's filled with my favorite stores, restaurants + retreats. Hope to see you soon!!

The Bond

The coziest place in Skaneateles. The amazing couple that owns this B+B are one of my favorite people in Skaneateles and I guarantee, you will enjoy every minute of your stay.

Skaneateles Bakery

If you want the most DELICIOUS warm donuts, you have to run to the bakery before they sell out. These are a town staple!

Drooz

Even my 4 year old daughter asks me to go to Drooz while walking around town. There is something for everyone and you can spend hours in there.

Imagine

Imagine has the coolest jewelry in town. I love the variety of price points that they carry. Whether you are shopping for a custom engagement ring or some awesome necklaces to stack, this is the store to hit.

Local Branch

Mackenzie + Blaine are so talented.  The Local Branch carries handmade leather products at a great price. Their product lasts forever. I wear their backpack to work every day!

Skaneateles Brewery

Fairly new in Skaneateles are the brewery and the distillery.  You can grab whatever beverage you are craving in the same building.  My favs? The Chocolate Creme Brulee liqueur from Last Shot and Shortline Stout from the Brewery!

Gilda's

YOU HAVE TO GO TO THIS LITTLE HIDDEN GEM!!! Recommendation Hot Sop Pizza, Arugula Salad + Burger paired with their AMAZING wine selection.
